The Five Best Coffee Shops In Birmingham, Alabama.

Birmingham, Alabama is one of favorite cities for many reasons, and one of those reasons is because it has some of the best coffee. I have to say, I am pretty picky when it comes to coffee, so to say this city has lots of great coffee and coffee shops is a pretty big deal. I am getting ready to move to Fairhope, AL and one of the first things I had to scout out when visiting was the coffee shops. Thankfully there is an incredible coffee shop called Provision just minutes away from my future apartment.

I have lived in Birmingham for almost 2 years so I have had plenty of time to find all the best coffee shops in the ‘Ham. This year I started working remotely so my coffee shop visits have drastically increased this year. If you live in Birmingham or are planning a trip to this beautiful city then you will want to check out these local favs—they won’t disappoint.

01. Seeds

This coffee shop is a true gem. Birmingham is a better place because of it. I like Seeds because it is consist (which can be hard to find in a coffee shop), the employees are kind and the atmosphere just feels light and lively. This coffee shop feels very community centered. My friends who have a band called Common Noble recently had a show here with a few other artists and it was the best time! This coffee shop is always feels full, but not in an overcrowded kind of way. It’s just right. I feel like every time I stop by I run into someone I know and I love it. Every drink I have ever ordered is amazing. I typically order their seasonal drinks because they always come up with the most unique and delicious flavors, but you can’t go wrong with good ‘ole pour over or vanilla latte. Seeds roasts their coffee to perfection, so I almost always have a bag at home so I can make my daily pour over. I need to stock up on a few bags of Seeds coffee before I move from Birmingham.

02. Domestique

Okay, I will admit, I haven’t ever actually sat down in their coffee shop, but I buy their bags of coffee beans all the time. They without a doubt have some of the best coffee I have ever had. Easily in my top 5 favs. They roast all their coffee in Birmingham which is pretty awesome.

If you want to sit down and enjoy a cup of Domestique coffee then here are their locations:

Panache: 1024 20th St S #103, Birmingham, AL 35205

03. Caveat

Oh Caveat, I just love this little coffee shop. The Brown Sugar Rosemary Latte is my most-ordered drink from this adorable coffee shop. In close second is their Matcha Latte. It can be pretty hard to find a good matcha, but these guys know what they’re doing. This shop is located in the beautiful city of Homewood, so you already know it’s the place to be. Out of all the coffee shops mentioned in this post, this is the one I go to the most. It is hard for me to work and focus in a busy coffee shop that constantly has people coming and going and is always jam-packed. Those are fun coffee shops to hang out in, but I just can’t get anything accomplished because I get so distracted by all the noise and movement. Caveat has just enough noise and movement to prevent awkwardness, but still has a peaceful atmosphere. It’s the type of shop I will stay at all day—I love it.

04. Daily Edition

You have to try the Rose Latte, seriously. AMAZING. This isn’t a shop you can sit in and hang out in. I think there’s literally only one chair in their space, but it is still 1000% worth going to. It is definitely Instagram worthy and the coffee and pastries won’t let you down. Like I mentioned earlier, I am getting ready to move, and have already decided the Daily Edit is the coffee shop I am going to stop by on my way out of Birmingham. I just have to have one more Rose Latte before leaving.

05. Revelator

Revelator was the very first coffee shop I went to in Birmingham, so it holds a special place in my heart. First impressions are everything and this coffee shop was my first impression of the coffee scene in Bham—let me just say, it set the bar high. I ordered the Honey Cinnamon Latte when I first visited and I am pretty certain I have ordered it every time since. There’s lots more on the menu than a Honey Cinnamon Latte, but that was always my go-to. I tend to have go-tos for every coffee shop. Not only are the drinks top notch, but Revelator has such a cool atmosphere. The coffee shop is located downtown in the heart of Birmingham. It’s everything you could hope for in a vibey coffee shop. Downtown. Leather sofas. Art created by Birmingham locals. And of course, solid coffee.

Honorable Mention: Greenwise

Okay, you may laugh at me for this one, but Greenwise is seriously only of my favorite places to get a latte in Birmingham. Greenwise is the “Whole Foods’ of the Publix grocery stores. There are only a few Greenwise stores in the nation and Birmingham is highly blessed and favored to have one. Truly. You can purchase coffee, smoothies and all the things in Greenwise and then head upstairs to their loft to enjoy it and work. It’s not a traditional coffee shop, but I couldn’t not mention it because I am always there whether it’s to go grocery shopping, grab lunch, order a latte or pick up a smoothie. 10/10 recommend.
