The Ultimate Travel Guide to Chattanooga, Tennessee

What to do, see and eat in Chattanooga

Oh Chattanooga, what a city. Last summer I visited Chattanooga for the first time when some friends and I went out there for the day. Since then I have gone back more times than I remember, mainly this past February. I spent almost the entire month of February 2022 in Tennessee and it was truly so great. If I ever decided to move away from Birmingham, Chattanooga would definitely be on the list of places I would consider. It’s a city that is rich in culture and art, overflowing with the best restaurants and coffee shops and it has endless things to do outdoors. It checks all the boxes. When I travel I come alive by getting fully immersed in a city’s culture. I so enjoy discovering and exploring unique small business, local favs and I absolutely love making friends with people in the new places I visit. Take a look at my favorite Chattanooga things and save this post for your next trip there.

Food and Drinks

01. Wildflower Tea Shop - This was my go-to place. I had drank many, many, many green tea lattes and chai tea lattes while I was in Chatt. They made the best matcha latte I have ever drank—hands down! I also ordered a coconut chai (it had a fancier name than that) and it was out of this world. Not only was everything delicious, but the atmosphere was amazing and absolutely beautiful. I spent a lot of time working from their shop since I work remote.

02. Sleepyhead Coffee - I recommend everything here, but only if you get a donut on the side too. So. Good. It’s located in a neat area downtown and the shop itself is such a trendy place to hang out or work in.

03. Flying Squirrel Bar - I had the Brunch Okonomiyaki. If you’re an adventurous eater then you def need this savory goodness in your life. It’s an incredibly large portion, so I would recommend sharing it.

04. Conga Latin Food - Inexpensive and delish. I ordered the marinated pork pupusas and barbacoa tostada and omg. I’ve made a trip back to Chatt since first trying ir and almost cried because it was on a Sunday and they were closed. I crave their food ALL THE TIME. I can’t wait for the day I’m back in Chatt and can eat here again.

05. Frothy Monkey - This coffee shop is located inside of the iconic Chattanooga Choo Choo Hotel. I love their Rosemary Honey Latte-yum!

Things To Do Outside

06. Walnut Street Bridge - You can’t go to Chattanooga and not take a walk on it. This iconic bridge is a must-see when traveling through Chattanooga. There are so many neat shops at the foot of it like Winder Binder where you can find books, records and art. I recently bought the most beautiful poetry book from Winder Binder.

07. Stringers Ridge -I did a solo hike and the view of Chattanooga was amazing. I was originally told it was a lookout point you could simply walk to, but turns out there is quite the little hike to get to the lookout point. I recommend being prepared and not wearing white Vans and a denim jacket like I did—oops. The view is definitely worth the hike.

08. Point Park on Lookout Mountain - This park is my favorite place to watch the sunset in Chattanooga. You can watch the sunset over the mountains or you can take a quick walk to the otherside of the park and see the city of Chattanooga in all of its glory. The only bummer is you have to pay to get in, but it’s not much and the pass lasts longer than a day.

Shops and Hotels

09. Moxy Hotel - I stayed here and it was great! Trendy and fun, plus they had free live music from Vanhoff. Not to mention, they had the most comfortable beds and everything is walking distance.

10. Joli Jardin Flower Shop - This was the most beautiful flower shop. You can buy flowers by the stem and you can also shop all of their other unique goods. Beautiful, beautiful, beautiful.

Happy travels, my friends
